Eksportfinans was established in 1962 to provide long-term financing for the Norwegian export sector. The company is owned by a consortium of banks operating in Norway (85 percent) and the Norwegian Government (15 percent). The company employs more than 50 highly qualified professionals.
From 1978 to 2011, Eksportfinans managed the Norwegian state-supported export financing scheme under the OECD Consensus arrangement. On November 18, 2011 the Norwegian government announced that it would assume responsibility for this scheme by establishing a new state-owned entity operative from July 1, 2012.
Eksportfinans continues to manage its existing portfolio of loans, in addition to its other assets, liabilities and other commitments in the same manner as earlier. The company is currently redefining its strategy, and is for the time being not granting new loans.
A good asset and liability match, substantial liquidity reserves and a solid balance sheet means the company is well positioned to preserve value and continue operations for the years to come.
