"Far Samson"
The ship, Far Samson, designed by Rolls-Royce and built by STX Europe, Langsten for Farstad Shipping in Ålesund, was delivered on March 24, 2009. The ship is one of the most powerful offshore vessel ever built and is on a long term charter contract to Saipem UK Ltd.
FACTS
The vessel is a truly multifunctional offshore vessel and is capable of carrying out heavy ploughing operations for pipes and cables on the seabed as well as subsea installation work in ultra deep water. The vessel can cut trenches in the seabed in water up to 1,000 meter deep. The diesel engines on board meet Clean Design class rules and catalytic converters are also fitted to the generator sets, giving a 95 per cent (NOx) reduction. Eksportfinans has provided the long term financing of the vessel and the total loan amount is NOK 680 million. The repayment period is 12 years. The guarantors are DnBNOR, GIEK and Handelsbanken.
